For a survival food crop that will keep you fed in winter, it’s hard to beat the turnip. I learned how to grow turnips years ago when I was prepping for a financial crash. It’s an easy to grow calorie crop. Yet I did NOT like the way turnips tasted! Now, here in in Alabama, I am growing White Lady and White Egg turnips and have found both varieties taste much better than Purple Top turnips. If you want a survival food crop, try turnips! They have a decent amount of calories and the greens are a good vegetable. #survivalgardening #floridagardening #alabamagardening
